...we got the band back together last weekend for another memorable desert get away in our Pioneer Town stomping grounds, just outside of Joshua Tree. Two years ago we took a girls trip (post HERE) to the desert for the first year debut of Freaks for the Festival, headlining the Chris Robinson Brotherhood....and a bunch of other cool bands leading up. The all day concert took place at Pappy & Harriets which is one of the coolest rustic and intimate bar/pool hall/ restaurants settings to see live music...kind of feels like stepping into a backyard scene in the 70s. The style scene is so awesome at this festival ... more originality than most and our crew certainly went for it with vintage, denim, tie dye, jewelry, boots, fringe, turquoise and let's not forget some bad ass cowboy hats. This year was the 2nd year that CRB has performed here at 'Folk Yeah' ....so we felt it was a good excuse for a little 'family reunion' weekend...boys included this time. We got a cool house not far from the venue and spent our down time drinking whiskey, grilling out (have never ate so much red meat in 2 days), target shooting and hot tubing under the stars...

Red Soles
Wearing my new converse high-tops on this sizzling hot day in LA. I mean, 100 degrees is fine unless you don't have air conditioning..and many of us (ME) do not. I threw on the thinnest material clothing I could think of this morning-- and although I'd normally go with a sandal on a day like this...just trying to break in the bright red shoes (not totally comfortable in the brand new shoe look when it comes to sneakers) It kind of makes me feel like a nerd :)

Heat Wave
These shots I randomly browsed from Cake Magazine have me itching for a road trip to the desert without an absolute destination in mind, stopping through small towns along the way. I'd even take a weekend at the beach as long as it's somewhere other than LA. The heat wave is hitting us this week and being out in the sun, embracing the heat and wearing barely there clothing seems like the only way to get through...
