green scene

Happy St. Patty's Day!
How did I forget to wear green today?
Enjoy...

Arrivals!

There is nothing better than coming home to packages on your front porch that you have been expecting/waiting for. Yesterday I had two. The first I rushed to open was from my aunt Peg, my favorite fashionista & stylist  who sends me clothes when she cleans out her closet. I have been bonded to her since birth as she was there for my first cry :)

Excited about this Trina Turk 'shift' dress on the left. Shift dresses are very 'in' right now. Loving the Theory cashmere poncho too...heard the weather is suppose to get colder again this weekend, so hopefully I'll still have the chance to wear it. .

I have been wanting something pink (which is rare for me)...how perfect with this Philosophy Alberta Ferretti dress on the left. A great dress to wear so many different ways...I see it with casual riding boots, a chunky wedge, or a dressy stiletto.

Cashmere just kept falling out of the box :)
She even threw in classic pairs of hoop earrings in silver and gold, along with Bobbi Brown makeup brushes!
Now on to my 2nd box. Awhile back a found two great pairs of Dolce Vita for target boots (amazing prices!) and was on the fence about which to buy (didn't want to be greedy and buy two, so I went with the lace up combat style..which I have worn the hell out of). I told some girlfriends about my 'find' and they ended up buying and loving that boot too. So last week, one of my stylish girlfriends texted me a picture of the OTHER Dolce Vita she found at target online.... marked down to $12.24!! OMG. I went online immediately. (If you want to buy, this boot runs 1/2 a size big). I like pretending I wear an 8 1/2.
The ankle length looks so cute with skinny jeans or a dress...tights or no tights is adorb!

Pretty things

Wandered Wildwood park in Thousand Oaks over the weekend- what a perfect way to spend the afternoon. I bought this beautiful maxi skirt at the FIDM scholarship store last week (for an amazing bargain price) as the talented designer Chan Luu is a FIDM alumni. I bought a similar version in white as well....just couldn't resist and know I'll wear the heck out of them both. I had been envisioning wearing one of them to a nature filled setting like this reserve...just goes so perfectly with spring inspiration of soft neutrals, flowers and flowy pretty things :)
This has to be one of my favorite places to get away...just 30 minutes from LA but feels like you could be in another state with the terrain changes and no-smog factor...it feels good to spend an entire day outside.
Paradise Falls...almost got in trouble for sitting on top of it. Didn't think the sign "do not climb on rocks" really applied, but the park ranger spotted us and shouted over the intercom "GET OFF. THE ROCKS. NOW."... and just as we were in the middle of a small picnic (small being bananas and peaches). Oh well...got away.

play with this

More Spring Makeup trends....

Vivid Brights
I prefer with a nude lip, although color can work with the right outfit

Statement Lips
This is the same idea of 'bright orange lips' previously posted. Wear with minimal eye makeup and tonal cheeks...
Natural Nude
Nude/minimal makeup is like skinny jeans...just keeps coming around in trends...
Try Smashbox Soft Lights (Sephora) - it's great for a saturday when you don't want to wear foundation and are out running around! It gives a soft glow is feels light on the skin. Hence the name.

LACMA Fashionising Fashion

Finally visited the LACMA (Los Angeles Count Museum of Art) which has been less than a mile from my neighborhood since I moved to LA in 2008. It was about time I stood outside of the museum and took pictures under the famous hand-blown glass lantern and globes. The artist describes the streetlamps as "what constitutes a civilized and sophisticated society: safe after dark and beautiful to behold."

I broke museum rules and touched this painting, the texture of it was just too tempting..

now that's a comb
love these random pieces of art...of course I had to pose.
"Fashioning Fashion" exhibit...these dresses and accessories date back to the 1700's...CRAZY.
killer boots...

rompin around

Loving the spring weather these last couple of weeks...hope it isn't a tease. And clearly I need a tan.
