Tacky Xmas Sweater Party

Shockingly, I've never gone to a (popular themed) 'tacky sweater' party before, until this past Saturday, where I actually had 2 tacky parties to attend. My friend and I went thrift store shopping the day of to find something...but as we browsed the clothing racks of truly UGLY xmas sweaters, we started second guessing and wondering 1)would people really dress up?...and 2) who wants to go to a party feeling not-cute? Then my friend spotted a vintage sequin Bob Mackie sweater dress that looked like it would fit me perfectly, which, it did. It was definitely borderline tacky with it's primary color argyle shaped sequins, but also very festive and fun. I bought it and called it a day while my friend decided to just wear a hot sequin number she already had at home. All that being said...THANK GOD we didn't buy the matching ugly brown reindeer sweaters we considered...hardly anyone at either party dressed up!! Some of the guys got the memo which was surprising. The second party had an Ice Queen theme as well...so there were a couple of those costumes among the few ugly sweaters walking around. Random!! I was sort of in the middle in my Bob Mackie find (which I paired with fishnet tights)....was I dressed as part of the theme, or did people think I was serious? Either way, we all had so much fun it didn't seem to matter....good friends, ambiance, hilltop views, fire pits (with marshmellows!), music going with a drum set to back it up, awesome food, endless champagne and even jello shots...which I haven't touched since college. Sunday morning I remembered why :)
