Pattern Mixture

While mixing patterns and prints within an outfit is very trendy, the prints and textures of shoes and bags also make that bold statement. I started off with the dress and worked my way...from the florals to the snakeskin to the patchwork...more is more sometimes.
I 'stole' this vintage 70's leather and suede messenger bag from my grandmothers handbag drawer during my last visit to Texas...I told her after the fact, knowing she would be happy that I would actually want something she had so long. Some of my best vintage accessories come from my Mimi:)

Channeling Audrey

Wearing my hair tied up in a bun with particular this dress (even though it's navy instead of black) always gets me the Audrey Hepburn reaction from others. The neckline of the dress and femininity of the cut is a strong reflection of the classic style icon Audrey, one of the world's most stylish women, who created many trends (including that little black dress!) Although, it is said that her style was more in her way of life rather than in her manner to wear her dresses. Regardless, I always want to courtesy throughout the day when I wear this number...I decided to add my vintage statement leather belt to give the look a little edge...just wouldn't feel like myself otherwise. Navy and black is always a good combo.

"For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone." - Audrey Hepburn

Memorial...

(above seen @ tumblr)
Spending Memorial Day by the ocean this weekend in my old stomping grounds of Newport Beach was a much needed get-away. There is such a difference in pace heading just an hour South from L.A to O.C... even just seeing the 405 highway lanes widen approaching Long Beach makes me immediately fall into a slower mind set. Walking the beach (or just sitting there) is always therapeutic and calming for me...I could stare at the the waves rolling in and out all day. We saw a giant seal  swimming alongside the pier as we were walking to the end of it for dinner one night...my favorite moment of the weekend for sure. He just stayed, not afraid of people in the least....swimming on his back then somersaulting, barking so loud, all the while looking directly up at us and all the fisherman :)

Nature Girl

Aspettando la Luna Piena – Klara Gro plays nature girl in Cristina Capucci’s latest work shot for the May issue of Urban Magazine. Styled by Ivan Bontchev, Klara wears lightweight sweaters matched with lingerie inspired dresses as she frolics through the great outdoors. Tousled locks and natural makeup by beauty artist Fabio D’Onofrio complete the youthful ensembles. - fashiongonerogue

Aviators

I traded Ray Bans with my buddy over lunch, and now have these Aviators on my wishlist. They're just classic and I like the gold rim. I've been wearing the same pair of Wayfarer Ray Bans for almost 3 years - I just can't part with them or find another pair I like more....so, the aviator style would be a good alternative. They kind of coincidentally went with my simplistic military look.

Heyoka Leather

...still madly in love with the Heyoka Leather accessory line I blogged about recently from my showroom visit to Free Agency.  I want to buy every piece of jewelry they have and wear everything together at once. I could see myself getting very carried away. Below are a few pieces I tried out over the weekend ~ loved the long necklace effect with my bikini top...channeling Pocahontas:) And yes...those feather earrings below are INSANE, but didn't want to risk them poolside!
Speaking of how great Heyoka looks in the Summertime...

Denim on Denim

Mixing different or similar shades of denim is a look I've always liked...I remember seeing it a lot in the 80's...and yes, I was only a child then;) I'm happy this trend has been back strong on the trend map. During a lazy afternoon from my visit to Dallas last weekend (wearing my comfy boyfriend jeans) I  made my mom snap some shots behind our house in the alley....standing there I realized how most neighborhoods in L.A don't have alleys. Anyway! We sat on the front porch and watched the storm come in...one thing I definitely miss about TX!

Every Piece Tells a Story

Ever since I walked into Margaret's house (of The Sche Report) I have been inspired to collect special pieces for my home, as she has done throughout the years, in hopes of having a place as cool as her 'shrine' one day! I still feel overstimulated every time I walk in, even though I've been there countless times. Everywhere you look there is something interesting, but at the same time, nothing is cluttered.  Margaret has such an eye, not only for fashion styling, but interiors and decorating as well. She would never own a table from Ikea....not that there's anything wrong with Ikea...I shop there. But, let's face it...there's nothing 'special' about mass quantity stores like that. Seeing her house made me realize the importance of waiting for that special 'find'...whether it's traveling or visiting a local swap meet, there is an undoubtedly noticeable difference in items that have a story.
(...it all ties in very much with my love for vintage clothes shopping and thrift stores!)
Thank you Margaret for the inspiration and letting me photograph your digs!
